I picked roses 28 October, 1927
-- Margaret Campbell
Written out like a recipe on the first page of her Purity Flour Cookbook. A recipe perhaps difficult to repeat for this part of the world, where frost can come early and without warning.
My mom's batch of black currant jelly.
A reminder that each season is conditional -- what outlasts its time is somehow made more beautiful because of it.
